The pens are made from a variety of materials which include; Oak from whisky casks sourced from the Glenturret Distillery, the oldest in Scotland; Red Deer antler, from the hills of Perthshire which surround us; Celtic Bog Oak, from ancient fallen forests - this wood can be thousands of years old; Vintage Pen Blanks, discovered in Le Mans, France and last used to make pens in the 1930's and 1940's for the leading fountain pen manufacturers of the day; various exotic hardwoods including "Buckeye Burl,” a south American hardwood with exceptional colouring and grain; Turkish Walnut, normally favoured by gun stock makers for its ability to be worked finely; and finally, Thuya Bur, known for its exceptional grain pattern and colour.
Pens are ballpoint, and replacement ink can be easily purchased.
The ballpoint pen accept standard "cross" type refills, widely available at most stationers.
To fit a refill, pull the pen apart and unscrew the refill, replace and re-assemble.
